September 17: NEW SEEDS kickoff event in Tampa! September 10, 2010

The event will be held on September 17, 2010 at 8 pm at Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse located at 4819 E. Busch Blvd. in Tampa, FL. The event will feature a guest lecture by Author Whitney Bauman, followed by award-winning poetry performed by Aleshea Harris.

Silver Glass Productions, along with Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse, is bringing the distinguished poet, playwright, actress and singer/songwriter Aleshea Harris to the monthly event New Seeds.

Harris will be sharing some of her award winning poetry at the monthly event that features inspiring art performances and enlightening lectures from the feminist perspective.

“I am excited to share my work at an event that brings Tampa Bay’s artistic scene to light,” says Harris. “The underground artists of Tampa have so much to offer to the creative dynamic that make up our society.”

The event will be held on September 17, 2010 at 8 pm at Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse located at 4819 E. Busch Blvd. in Tampa, FL. The event will feature a guest lecture by Author Whitney Bauman, followed by award-winning poetry performed by Aleshea Harris.

Harris is an actress, playwright, poet and singer-songwriter. She earned a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Southern Mississippi and has performed on various stages in various capacities in the Tampa Bay and beyond.  Aleshea has shared her spoken word poetry at The Studio@620, American Stage Theatre, The Knoxville Poetry Slam, First Night St. Pete and Sacred Grounds Poetry Slam. Her poetry has been featured in the award winning short film God of the Ground and her own solo play Oddie, which received rave reviews at the Orlando Fringe Festival.

Silver Glass Productions is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and produce socially relevant theatre, and in doing so, promote community dialogue. This mission is achieved by the monthly arts salon that is held at Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse and the annual festival that is produced by the president of Silver Glass Productions, Suzanne Willett. “Our vision is to make Tampa Bay a nationally recognized center of socially relevant art,” says Willett.
